role of women in modern family life.

The role of women in the modern family in today life is equal to men. Women are still trying to challenge men to be there dominant but it is not the same. Women and men have the rights but men are often seen as the foundation of every thing in modern family life. The women are the care takers in the family.

plot of your favorite movie.

My favorite movie so far has to be 47 Ronin, and the plot about the movie is In feudal Japan, Lord Asano rules his province with fairness. However, jealous Lord Kira (Tadanobu Asano) fears that the shogun favors Asano over him and hatches a plot that ends with Asano's ritual suicide. After Asano's death, his samurai, led by Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), are forced to live as outcasts. Oishi wanders for several years but realizes that he must turn to Kai (Keanu Reeves), a mixed-blood warrior he once rejected, to help him and his ronin comrades take revenge on Lord Kira.

1 post by Saturday about about the images 2 colleagues' discussed in their posts and how you differ. Use quotes.

Jay said, "images can mean a plethora of things depending on the viewers understanding. Imagery appeals to the five senses". I 100% agree with this statement because different people experience things differently in a way that it applies to their senses. Jay also used the poem "Heat" and thought that the heat is a feeling of touch, both of us had different feelings  and outlook toward the poem.
Jahneha said, she "honestly cause I can look at something and take it one way then you can look at it in a totally different angle that how I see it", which is what Jay was saying, on how people look at things differently than others.  She choose the song lyric, "You know I got the sauce (sauce), you know I’m saucy And it’s always wet, a b**** never ever had to use lip gloss on it." I have no idea what that song is, but to her it could mean something very meaningful, but for me it means absolutely nothing, but everyone has their own opinion and feel for different things.

Write 1 post by Saturday responding to two colleagues' posts. Use quotes.

Adrian, wrote her post about "Hazel Tells Laverne" by Katharyn Howd Machan. She believes that Metamorphosis could be the mythological elements in this poem. She also gave an example of how this could be, "The frog tell her she have to kiss him and she would change into a princess." Everyone has heard or saw the princess and frog, and of course we all know that is a myth, it is just a story that people tell for entertainment, and a lesson learned.
Jahnesha, wrote her post from the poem, "How I Discovered Poetry" she mentioned that "it used one of mythological elements of using love in the first like by saying "It was like souls-kissing, the way word filled my mouth as Mrs. Purdy read from her mouth." This part of the poem uses imagery which is a form a mythological element and it provides the image of love and how love can feel, but some may say that love is a myth, and that it is an illusion in some cases. The way I feel about it is that it is like "souls-kissing",because it is a beautiful things, but I also feel as though it can be just an image or maybe an illusion.

Write 1 post by Wednesday about the use of mythological elements in one of this week's poems. Use quotes.

The mythological elements in Gwendolyn Brooks' "We Real Cool", seems like a myth of how people who are "cool" and play pool behave. The poem describes how those who play pool are the cool kids on the block. They are so cool that they are too cool for school, and there for the left school. It seems as though these people who are cool, stay out way to late playing pool, with potty mouths, "we sing sin" (Brooks 828). The cool kids on the block not only do all of those things but they also party often, jazzing to the beat in the summer of June. These cool kids know that this life style is fun and that everyone who is no one would love to be in their shoes, but they know that this life style comes with consequences. They know that with their life style that they choose, the will die soon.

1 post by Wednesday about a metaphor in a song lyric.

The song I chose was Waterfalls by TLC. The metaphor that was found in the song was
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to
I know that you’re gonna have it your way or nothing at all."

"Don’t go chasing waterfalls
This song lyric is comparing lakes waterfalls and rivers to emotional feelings. It was a metaphor warning us not to go chasing things that are beautiful, like waterfalls, but might actually hurt you.

1 post by Wednesday about why images can mean so many different things. Use a quote from a poem and from a song you like.

Images can mean a plethora of things depending on the viewers understanding. Imagery appeals to the five senses. The poem "Heat" by H.D uses the imagery of touch. In the poem "Heat" the author says "fruit cannot fall into heat", and "O wind, rend open the heat". I understand this image as heat being a feeling of touch. Also, the elements of nature are being personified.

One of my favorite song is The break up song by Wale. The lyrics "See, breaking up is hard to move along is even harder It's over she got colder now can't locate where her heart is" are my favorite because when Wale says 'It's over she got colder now can't locate where her heart is" that is a image of how breakups can go south and your heart gets cold which is the sense of touch.

1 post by Wednesday about the theme of your favorite poem or song lyric.

The poem "The Rose That Grew From Concrete" by Tupac Shakur is about having ambitions goals and reaching them despite the circumstances and conflicts we are faced. Tupac uses symbolism to disguise himself as the rose and the ghetto as the concrete. The message sent is that it is very burdensome to survive the hard life in the ghetto and make something of yourself.

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.

theme of your life so far.

I think the theme of my life so far is still being written, how does anyone know the theme of there life, if they are still living? God created the heavens, earths, angels, humans, beasts and etc. Understanding creation the animals all have purpose even the plants and the angels; however, the complexity of humans some they don't understand why they here and purpose of creation. Being that I'm still a living vessel the theme of my life so far would be finding my true purpose for living and understand myself as creation of the most high.

Theme of your favorite movie.

One of  my favorite movies has to be "Paid in Full". A key theme to the movie is do not cross your friend no matter how rich y'all become in the long run. For all the money in the world you do not turn your back on the people, who help you when you did not have anything.

1 post by Saturday about two colleagues' symbols.

Ryan Phillips symbols Something that we wear  everyday and what does it symbolize. Something that I wear almost everyday is Nike. Nike is an athletic brand and they make stuff from jackets, shirts, cloths, shoes and even book bags.

Akeryah's synbols
For about the months I'd sometimes always wear a U.S Army hat that my boyfriend gave to me before I left for school and before he left for basic training. Now I have many army bears and jackets from him to have something to remember when he's gone and now will be in Korea for two years.

Something you often wear or carry and what it symbolizes.

Something that I wear or carry is my moneybag chain around my neck. My favorite piece in the game of monopoly is the moneybag. The moneybag chain I wear is to symbolizes me grinding everyday to get to the riches. To keep stacking my funds and never folding. The moneybag chain I wear is to symbolize every time I make investments with money. I should take the course with less opportunity costs and financial loses.

1 post response to 2 colleague's view of setting. Use quotes and links.

Breanna Williams blog response view of setting:

Karen Van Der Zee the author of A Secret Sorrow 1981. Her life affects her writing because as a child she always wanted to write and she was in love with romance books and always wanted to travel. her life has affected the way she writes because she has found love and is willing to share something she loves so bad with readers around the world. Her poem/stories tell a great deed of people falling in love and the trials you have to go through to get what you deserve. In Chapter 11 she shows how the character is afraid of marriage afraid of committing and she explains that after it all its worth the fight,.

Jay Perk blog response to the view of setting:
In the story "Geese" the setting of the story is based in  Japan. Dina who is a native in Baltimore wants to moved to Japan because she wants to make a lot of money. said Jay P. I also was aware that the setting of Geese was in Japan, however I thought most of the setting was in Tokyo because Dina wanted to stay in the  city.
"The setting in Hemingway's "Soldier's Home", is in Oklahoma. It takes place in the summer of 1919. Most of the story takes place in the protagonist, Krebs's home, who was returned home from France and Germany from fighting in WWI", said Addison. In the begging of the story in mention Kansas but the story isn't set in Kansas its set in Oklahoma so I agree with Addison's statement.

1 post about the setting in either Hemingway's or Packer's story.

The setting "Soldiers Home" by Hemingway is based on Oklahoma after World War 1 in the year 1919. Before Kerbs went to the war, he attended a Methodist college in Kansas

"One of the most effective ways William Faulkner establishes depth of character and scene is by using long lists of descriptions. Actions in one scene that then recall a past or future scene."

Lo blog post;
"Kate Chopin's " A Story of an Hour"  is now odd considering the fact that Kate Chopin father died when she was younger. Ironically is the story Mrs.Mallard husband was pronounced dead by a train wreck as well. If that isn't bizarre, I don't know what is. Kate writing this story in third person; let's the readers know that she is the narrator. Therefore, "A Story of an Hour" is actually about Kate as a child watching her getting the new of her father's death. Kate said in the book She was young, with a fair, calm face, whose lines bespoke repression and even a certain strength. Now knowing this the story makes much more sense.

how the author's life of your Doc1 story/poem affects the story or poem. Use quotes & links.

In the story " A rose for Emily"  by William Faulkner, Miss Emily had a negro slave named Tobe. It may be possible that William Faulkner himself and his family owned slaves because William Faulkner grew up in the southern state of Mississippi and owned farm land.

1 about what 2 of your colleagues learned about their stories; use quotes & links

My classmates all have different stories that they choose for there document 1. For example, Ashley Davis in Mr. Hamon's 2 o'clock class.  The story she picked was " A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner and she learned " The way Faulkner describes certain things that make them an important element in the story" Ashley stated. Marlon Robinson story he learned from was "The Story of an Hour". He stated that he learned Mrs.Mallard had a heart condition and the reason behind her death was she could not handle the surprise at the end of the year"

1 about what you have learned about your story.

I learned in the story I choose was “The Story of an Hour” is Kate Chopin’s short story about the thoughts of a woman after she is told that her husband has died in an accident. This story is creepy because of the role of Louise Mallard.

1 about your choice of story for your Doc1.

The choice of story I'm using for my document 1 is Kate Chopin “Story of an Hour”. The reason I choice this story is because of the relationship to unveil the emotional and social expectations of marriage and death. Everyone has been in love and/or seen a love one past away. The story explains Mrs. Mallard’s craziness towards her husband who past away but some people do extremes for there loved ones, alive and dead.

1 about your favorite movie

I do not have a favorite movie. There are three genres of movies I prefer which are action, thriller and kung fu. My favorite kung fu movie would be the 5 Deadly Vemons. This movie has a great story line and shows the true Chinese culture of ancient kung fu. I also like how the five different styles of kung fu listed in the movie are not real kung fu styles but are still fun to view.
This movie isnt like a thriller however has a plot twist at the end of the movie. I can watch this movie over over again.
